This Code, fully updated through Law 5303/2026 (Government Gazette A΄ 81/22.5.2026), is an essential tool for practicing lawyers. It is the only code that also presents previous versions of the articles in a clear, practical format, making it easy to find and track all changes.
In particular, the transition from the former to the new Code of Criminal Procedure, together with the latter’s repeated amendments, raises significant issues of intertemporal law and makes it necessary to compare the relevant provisions throughout their history. In this work, each article is presented in its latest version in force (through Law 5303/2026), while its previous versions and the latest version of the corresponding article in the former Penal Code/1950 and Code of Criminal Procedure/1950 are also listed in chronological order, in the hope that it will prove a useful tool for every legal professional.
In addition, the new edition includes selected references to provisions of special criminal laws that depart from the general rules of the Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure.
