The Edman voltage detector locates and traces cables, while helping with continuity testing and the detection of breaks or short circuits. The transmitter sends an audio signal that the receiver detects, making it possible to identify a cable among a group of cables without damaging its insulation. The receiver’s adjustable sensitivity makes locating cables easier in areas with many wires.
It is used for installing, testing and troubleshooting telephone and coaxial cables, as well as other unpowered conductors. The RJ11 connector is used to connect to telephone lines. It is not intended for use on live circuits; the circuit’s power supply must be disconnected before use.
