The Aqua Filter BB102PS1ST dual water filter unit is installed on the main water supply and treats water in two successive stages. The first, a polypropylene filter, traps dirt, sand, rust, sludge and suspended solids, with a nominal rating of 1 micron, while the second uses ion-exchange resin to reduce water hardness, calcium and magnesium. Pre-filtration protects the resin from particles, while treatment helps limit limescale deposits and protect pipes and appliances.

The two Big Blue 10″ × 4.5″ filter housings are mounted on a metal bracket and connect to the plumbing system via 1″ BSP female threads. The two pressure gauges monitor pressure before and after filtration, making it easier to detect an increased pressure drop. The replacement cartridges are checked and replaced separately. The unit is designed for cold water and should be flushed after new cartridges are installed, before normal use.
