In this book, Lucian, an ancient writer, decided to tell us even more lies than Homer himself—and he probably succeeded. As he traveled to discover the world, he turned his ship into a spaceship. High up in the sky, he met the Sky-Mosquitoes, the Horse-Ants, the Cabbage-Winged Ones, the Cloud-Centaurs, and many others who, I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard of.
He saw rivers of wine, visited a snow-white island made of cheese, ruled by Queen Tyro, and the Island of Dreams, where he saw many dreams wandering aimlessly through the streets.
A little farther on, there was, apparently, the Plain of Stupidity.
What? You don’t believe him?
