I have had this lamp for about 1 week. The gray parts are made of metal. However, the black base is made of plastic, which looks cheap. Above the base and below the cover, there is a piece of lightweight stone or something similar, screwed with two screws from below. The cover with the rest of the lamp can be removed a few millimeters from the base. Also, in the first few days, a few crumbs came out of this weight. Despite all this, I don't find anything substantial to bother me about the purchase. At its price, I find it excellent.
