The Celestron X-Cel LX eyepiece has a 9 mm focal length and a 60° apparent field of view, making it suitable for observing the Moon, planets, and deep-sky objects. Its six-element optical system features fully multi-coated optics, while the lens edges are blackened for high contrast.

It is parfocal with the other eyepieces in the X-Cel LX series, so switching between them requires little or no refocusing. The adjustable-height twist-up rubber eyecup can be lowered for use with eyeglasses. The ribbed rubber grip provides a secure hold, even when wearing gloves, and the barrel is threaded for filters.
