The Baader O-III Super-G 2" filter, with an FWHM bandwidth of 9 nm, is designed for visual observation and astrophotography of nebulae that emit doubly ionized oxygen, primarily planetary nebulae and supernova remnants. Its coatings are optimized for CMOS sensors and suppress stray light, enhancing contrast under light-polluted skies. With 97% transmission at 500.7 nm, it lets almost all the light in the O-III line through while blocking the Hβ line.
Reflex-Blocker coatings help reduce halos, while Life-Coat coatings contribute to the filter’s long-term durability. It is parfocal, with blackened edges and an anti-reflection ring that indicates the front side. It can be used for astrophotography with telescopes at focal ratios from f/1.8 to f/12, without shifting the passband at focal ratios faster than f/4.
