The Baader IR-pass infrared filter for telescopes blocks wavelengths below 670 nm while leaving the near-infrared region unaffected. Planetary images in this part of the spectrum are less affected by atmospheric turbulence. The image captured with the filter can be added to the usual RGB combination for greater sharpness.
The substrate’s smooth surface produces a smooth, precise wavefront. The coatings are applied using modern equipment to ensure uniform transmission and spectral response, while ion hardening protects them from deterioration during normal use or cleaning.
