The Exsys EX-46028 card adds eight RS-232 serial ports to computers, workstations and servers. It connects via PCIe 2.0 Gen1 and uses an EXAR/MaxLinear 17V358 chipset and a 16C550 FIFO buffer with a capacity of 256 bytes. It supports baud rates from 300 to 921.6 Kbaud and RTS/CTS and XON/XOFF flow control.

The eight male RS-232 connectors have 9 pins. Power is supplied at 3.3 V via the PCIe slot, and the octopus-style cable connects the ports.
