Following the text by Pierre Fedida "Where the Human Body Begins," the second booklet of the psychoanalytic series "ROUS" is published by AΓΡΑ Publishing, with Marilia Eisenstein-Averoff, Pano Aloupis, and George Stathopoulos as responsible editors.

The series includes, in addition to the Booklets, essays by psychoanalysts, with a central theme regarding the inseparable relationships of soul and body and the dual instinctual nature of man. Each Booklet will contain a classic text around these themes, an introductory presentation by an expert on the suggested author, and an afterword by an invited author, who freely draws inspiration from the central text.

Pierre Marty, the founder of the Psychosomatic Institute of Paris, inaugurated and actively contributed to the evolution of clinical practice and theory regarding the approach to the human being as an inseparable psychosomatic unit. With a stable foundation in Freudian thought, as a psychoanalyst and teacher, he dedicated a significant portion of his life to the transmission and exchange of his experience, which pertains to human mental functioning as a set of evolutionary internal mechanisms under the influence of the life and death instincts.

The allergic relationship is a precursor text, a manifesto of an inventive clinical perspective, where distance from the object proves to be an indicator of the functioning of the mental organ. "Mechanistic thinking" and "fundamental depression," key concepts conceived by Pierre Marty, are revealing elements of his continuous concern for a human existence, where the mental investment of the body represents both wealth and destiny.

In his supervision, Pierre Marty did not make our lives easy. He warned: "If I hear you mistreating patients out of stupidity, inability, or ignorance, expect to receive the same mistreatment from me."

Brief biographies of the scientific editors of the "ROUS" series

Marilia Eisenstein-Averoff is a teaching psychoanalyst of the French Psychoanalytic Society of Paris and the Hellenic Psychoanalytic Society. She has served as President of the French Society, director of the Institute of Psychoanalysis and the Institute of Psychosomatics in Paris, editorial member of the French psychoanalytic journal (Revue française de psychanalyse), and co-founder of the psychosomatic journal (Revue de psychosomatique). She is the representative for Europe of the International Psychoanalytical Association. She has written numerous articles and texts in Greek and international journals and books, mainly on psychosomatics, hypochondria, masochism, and transference.

Pano Aloupis is a psychiatrist, a Doctor of Psychology from University 7 in Paris, with teaching work in the chair of Psychopathology and psychoanalysis at University 7, a member of the French Psychoanalytic Society of Paris and a corresponding member of the Hellenic Society. He participates in the editing of French psychoanalytic and psychosomatic journals. He has written articles and contributed to Greek and international journals and books, primarily on themes related to the body, the object, and melancholy. He has translated Freud, Winnicott, and Kristeva into Greek and participated in the translation of the Vocabulary of Psychoanalysis.

George Stathopoulos is a psychologist, a doctor from University Paris 7. He has authored 2 books: "Reinvesting the Body: The Hypochondriacal Solution to Cancer" and "Freud, Fliss, and Paranoia," published by Nisos. He edited and translated into Greek the book by Michel de M'Uzan titled "At the Borders of Life and Death," published by Meta and has published articles in Greek and French-speaking psychoanalytic journals, with a main focus on hypochondria and therapeutic work with oncology patients.
