    They recommended it to me at the pharmacy, after I had tried almost everything. On the first application, it felt like I had poured salt on the wound. I rinsed my mouth with water and the pain wouldn't go away at all. Of course, the canker sore got worse.

You have to hold your lips with your hands so that the gel enters the wound and you have to keep them until it dries in order to create a waterproof layer so that it doesn't sting. If you manage to do this, the pain subsides and you think it's doing its job, but oh, after a minute, the saliva is gone and the gel goes away, and there's a candle in the air for the pharmacist who recommended it to you and told you it does a good job.
