Description

Description

Digital contact thermometer with simple operation for measuring temperature in the mouth, rectum or armpit. It features an audible signal and last-reading memory, with different measurement times depending on the measurement site.

Key Features

  • Approximately 1 minute for oral and rectal measurements.
  • 3–5 minutes for underarm measurements.
  • Last reading memory.
  • Audible signal and automatic self-test.
  • Automatic shutoff.
  • Range: 32.0–43.9 °C; accuracy: ±0.1 °C between 34–42 °C.

Proper Use for Reliable Results

Accurate measurement depends on the sensor’s contact with the body and the measurement time recommended for each site.

  • Oral (≈ 1 minute): Avoid hot or cold food and drinks for 10 minutes beforehand. Place the sensor under the tongue, to the left or right of its base, ensuring good contact. Keep your mouth closed and breathe through your nose.
  • Rectal (≈ 1 minute): Use a suitable sensor cover and lubricant. Carefully insert the sensor approximately 2–3 cm, without applying pressure.
  • Armpit (3–5 minutes): The armpit must be dry. Place the sensor in the center of the armpit, in direct contact with the skin, and hold your arm firmly against your body. Wait 3–5 minutes, even if the thermometer beeps sooner.

Important: For armpit measurements, maintain steady contact with the skin and wait 3–5 minutes. Do not directly compare an armpit reading with an oral or rectal reading.

Technical characteristics

  • Range: 32.0–43.9 °C
  • Accuracy: ±0.1 °C between 34–42 °C
  • Memory: Last reading
  • Bluetooth: No
  • Battery: LR41

It is the second one we buy for a small child. Its measurements always have a deviation of 0.2-0.5, so it may have a fever and we may not realize it. I haven't found a digital one yet that is accurate.

I wonder how they allow such unreliable thermometers to circulate in the market! You have to leave it for 5 minutes to show something closer to the actual temperature. It goes without saying that the reading at 1 minute that the alarm hits is completely wrong.

  • You have to leave it for a total of about 5 minutes to show the correct reading regardless of when the alarm will go off. It is better to choose a different thermometer.

  • I have been using it for many years. It measures relatively quickly, however, compared to a mercury thermometer, I have noticed that it usually shows half a unit lower. So practically, I always have 0.4-0.5 degrees higher fever, meaning if it says 36.3, I have 36.8, etc. Overall, it is good, but it would be better to have something more reliable for comparison.

I put the thermometer at 35.5. My wife puts it at 35.8. My sick baby puts it at 36.6. I try the old mercury thermometer. 36.5 for me, 36.6 for my wife, 37.1 for the little one. I think you understand where I'm going with this...

Classic thermometer for basic use. Measurement takes 1.5 minutes and generally shows accurate results in consecutive measurements. Instead of using unreliable forehead thermometers, it is better to use such a cheap armpit thermometer

It has an audio signal which, however, does not correspond to the actual value. Because if you leave it for another three minutes, the temperature rises even more
