I bought the Freestyle Precision Neo device for dietary reasons and not for diabetes control, so my experience is in measurements at low levels, i.e. 70 to 130 maximum. It also has the ability to measure ketones, which is why I chose this particular set.
Accuracy of measurements. Most measurements showed logical results, however, some concerned me as they were somewhat unorthodox. When repeating the measurement, the repeatability was not very good, with a difference of up to 10 units.
I borrowed a Contour XT device and the corresponding test strips. The measurements with this system were always at the levels I expected. The difference between the two systems ranges from 2% to 9%, which is quite significant.
Some PROS:
- The test strips are individually packaged, making them easy to handle without touching the measurement site or the strip.
- Very lightweight and compact device, making it easily portable.
Some CONS:
- The measurement requires a not particularly small blood drop. With cold hands, sometimes the drop does not form easily. If the drop is not enough, the pricking and the strip go to waste.
Looking at the documentation of the two systems, the Contour XT significantly outperforms in measurement accuracy.
For blood sugar measurement, I would definitely recommend the Contour XT out of the two.
