Description

Description

The Vengeance LPX is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 32GB per memory unit.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The Vengeance LPX provides a speed of 3200MT/s, with CL16 and 16GB per memory unit.

Compatibility

DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors and the latest Intel processors, as well as AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available in certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The Vengeance LPX (XMP 2.0) profile with performances:

  • Speed (XMP 2.0): 3200 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP 2.0): 16-18-18-36
  • Voltage (XMP 2.0): 1.35V

Cooling & Design

The aluminum construction material combined with the memory height of 34mm, which is an ideal size to fit large CPU coolers, helps to keep the memory and the entire computer at a fairly low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

I bought these specific RAM sticks about 6 months ago. Now that I went to evaluate them, I was shocked by the price they have reached! I bought them for €120 for 32GB.
I wasn't looking for LEDs and fancy stuff and I saved about €50 back then. A large percentage relative to the price just for lights. They plugged in easily, I changed speeds easily, but I give them 4 stars because they gave me a hard time when I removed one stick and then the PC wouldn't start. After many attempts (and without knowing how), I managed to get them working steadily again. It was probably a slot issue, but I read the manual and I don't know what I could have done wrong initially.

Bought for my father and for my cousin in their own builds (amd and intel), so in their own words, I can say that for heavy 6k video editing (FCP and Premiere/After Effects) and multitasking, they are amazing! Don't forget to boost them from the bios to go to 3200mhz.

One criterion is important to me and is the most significant for this evaluation: the PC does not freeze, is stable, performs as advertised, and I consider it to be a good value for money. It is installed on an Aorus X570 Elite + 3700X with XMP 3200 profile.

On 14/2/2017: I have had these memories for 2 weeks. The computer usage is mainly for gaming. I am very satisfied with them. Of course, the Overclocking test is pending. However, I will come back as soon as I "raise" them to 3200. Generally, I recommend them if someone has the specific amount of money to spare.
On 17/03/2018: After a lot of overclocking attempts, I have noticed that they cannot "go up" to 3200MHz with BCLK 100MHz (it is not implemented either with XMP or manual Profile). The maximum I received is 3000MHz with DRAM Voltage 1.355V.
