So far, I have been using soft collars which had the following problems: they didn't breathe, so my neck would sweat a lot, they got easily dirty and with washes, their fabric cover would deteriorate quickly and become useless. In these two areas, this collar covered me because the cushion it has at the ends is not fabric and can be easily cleaned, and also the small holes on the main body help to reduce sweating (but not completely). However, maybe because it was the first time I used a hard collar, I had a lot of difficulty getting used to it and not being bothered by it. Even now, I can't stand it for more than an hour. However, this hour helps with my dizziness and pain, caused by strain on my neck due to work (educator). However, I am thinking of getting a soft one for prolonged use. Apart from that, it is a good construction at a good price for its quality.
