It connects to a PCI Express slot and supports data transfer speeds of up to 1000 Mbps. With a 50/125 μm duplex cable, it supports connections up to 550 m away, while with a 62.5/125 μm cable, the distance reaches up to 220 m.

Fiber-optic connections are not affected by electronic interference that can occur in RJ45 copper networks. The card comes with both a standard-profile bracket and a low-profile bracket for installation in small-form-factor computers or 1U servers.
