The Roads of Life is a political autobiography, my personal testimony about the course of the country, from the German Occupation, the Civil War, the feeble democracy and the military dictatorship, to the Metapolitefsi and the establishment of democracy.
It aims to contribute to the formation of a more complete picture of the period from the mid-1960s to 1996. To assist in the effort to overcome our backwardness and authoritarian mindsets. It describes the quest for more freedom, social justice, and citizen autonomy.
The struggles, successes, and failures of that era revealed truths but also idealized situations. They concealed realities but also highlighted vulnerabilities. They raised questions about the causes and consequences of the developments.
Every testimony helps us better evaluate what happened. To learn from the past in order to effectively plan for the future. This is the ambition of this book.
