Description & Specifications

This essay is a continuation of a series of works I began publishing years ago on the work of Herman Melville, specifically on the novels Mardi and Moby-Dick, with the aim of providing the reader with a key to the author's secret thoughts and simultaneously showing how great literature is written.

The reader who wishes to delve into the depths of the unique and incomparable art of the author would do well to frequently refer to these works of mine, and even better would be to constantly contemplate the ideas I present in those texts, no matter how melancholic and burdensome they may seem.

Melville, along with a couple of other writers, represents an exception in the global history of philosophy and literature. That is why he is unique and extremely difficult, even though his thought is essentially "logical" at its core, and for precisely this reason is constantly self-undermining and self-refuting.
