This publication specifically refers to the professionalism of preschool educators in England and Greece and consists of two parts. The first (theoretical) presents and analyzes basic sociological and pedagogical approaches to professionalism, based on which the type of professionalism promoted in the two countries is assessed. It is proven, among other things, that the professionalism shaped by recent educational reforms is more technocratic and therefore opposes the professionalism defined as collegial control of work by its providers. In the second part (empirical), the perceptions of preschool children, school unit directors, and members of the teaching research staff of pedagogical schools dealing with preschool education are investigated.
