Description

The Relationship Communication Development Program (R.C.D.P.) is an indirect speech therapy program for preschool and early school-age children who have difficulty with speech and/or communication. It shifts the focus of speech therapy from a medical to a psychosocial model, combining theoretically and empirically supported clinical practices of Brief Therapy with a Solution Focus (Solution Focused Brief Therapy, SFBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCI), making it a therapy of documented effectiveness.
R.C.D.P. is not a product of laboratory study, it was not based on research purposes or assumptions. It was created and implemented in real clinical practice conditions within the framework of speech therapy services, in the field in which we operate professionally, the Speech Center EY LEGEIN. The initial indications from the implementation of the Program are particularly encouraging for its effectiveness, which decisively contributed to the writing and publication of this document.
R.C.D.P. is aimed at clinicians who support families of children with communication and/or speech difficulties (speech-language pathologists). Additionally, it concerns occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, and educators (preschool teachers, school teachers, special education teachers). The basic principles of the Program can also be applied to the linguistic and/or communicative support of children with typical language development. Finally, R.C.D.P. is suitable to be used as a manual in university schools that provide training to students in the fields of education, health, and mental health.
R.C.D.P. is organized into 2 parts.
Part 1 includes the theoretical support of R.C.D.P., the Exploratory Process, and the Presentation of the Case.
