The individual texts refer, in principle, to the fundamental principles of structure, namely macroscopic anatomy, microscopic anatomy, and embryology, while wherever deemed appropriate, functional elements, i.e., physiology, generally of productive animals, are also provided.
Subsequently, the most significant morphological and, in some cases, functional differences among the various species of these animals are presented. More details are dedicated to ruminants and pigs, and fewer to horses, while birds are examined in a separate chapter.
Particular emphasis is placed on the digestive and reproductive systems, in conjunction with the endocrine glands, as well as the early stages of embryonic life.
The anatomical terms used in the text are in accordance with those taught at the Department of Veterinary Medicine of A.U.Th., so that future agronomists can "speak the same language" as veterinarians when jointly addressing issues of animal production.
At the end of this manual, an index of anatomical terms is provided, as well as a list of bibliographic sources used.
