Description

The fourth edition of the Dictionary of Theological Terms, enriched with more words and terms from books and recently published articles in journals, aims to assist undergraduate and graduate students of Theology in the translation and understanding of a theological text in the English language.

The selection of words and terms was made from all areas of Theology. The presence of examples, as well as synonyms and antonyms of words, contributes to a better understanding of certain terms. The terms rendered in Greek are those currently used in the ecclesiastical language.

The recording of some uncollected Greek words in the Greek-English dictionary may help students translate a theological text into English and also facilitate the work of translators of patristic texts and others. This dictionary is intended for all students of Theology, to Theologians, and to those interested in the science of Theology.

The fourth revised edition of the Glossary of Theological Terms, English-Greek, Greek – English has been enriched with terms and definitions taken from new published articles and theological books from all the fields of the Theological Science, such as ecclesiastical history, patristic literature, canon law, liturgiology, Byzantine archaeology, Old Testament, New Testament, pastoral psychology, sociology, ethics, dogmatics, paedagogics, and others.

It includes the origin of the words along with their definitions, synonyms, antonyms, and examples for a better comprehension of their meaning. In the Greek-English glossary, there are words that are found only in the texts of the Bible, and their rendering into English may help foreign students comprehend better the patristic texts and other theological texts as well. This Glossary is addressed to the students of Theology, to Theologians, and whoever is interested in the Theological Science.
