The Daxter (Essentials) for the PSP is an action-platformer released in 2006, developed by Ready at Dawn, with production by Naughty Dog. The game is a spin-off of the Jak and Daxter series and focuses on the character Daxter, whom players take on as the protagonist. The story is set between the events of the first and second games in the series, with Daxter taking on the role of insect exterminator in the city of Haven City, while also trying to rescue his friend, Jak.

The game offers dynamic gameplay with a variety of moves, such as wall climbing, maneuvering in tight spaces, and vehicle usage. Players can customize weapons and acquire new powers, while the game also includes mini-games that provide additional content. The critical reception was positive, with Daxter considered one of the best games for the PSP, with sales exceeding 2.3 million copies by June 2008.
