The author's goal is to explain succinctly and simply how the modern economy works as a whole. This is achieved by presenting short and self-contained chapters that accurately and understandably introduce the terminology, developments, and structure of the economy.

It fills a gap that exists between simple journalistic reporting of economic events and academic texts that are too specialized for the general public. It is addressed a) to those who have some knowledge of economics, with the aim of serving as a reference manual to which they can turn to recall anything related to the more specific terms of microeconomic and macroeconomic science, and b) to those who have no training in economics, explaining economic concepts without causing fatigue.
