Patriotism, a sacred and supreme ideal that characterized the Greeks for centuries and became one of the main forces that protected the Greek nation through the labyrinthine and dangerous paths of History, has degraded in recent decades, resulting in a profound moral, social, political, and economic crisis, which reached its peak in the last six years and continues, with no visible end in sight.

As we identify the main causes of the crisis in the degeneration of the ideal of patriotism, we are deeply convinced that the only way to overcome and emerge from the crisis is through the recovery and regeneration of patriotism in 21st century Greece. This is because patriotism is the only force that can now unite and solidify the divided Greeks in the face of the crisis, which, in addition to the economy, now threatens the very Nation and Homeland.

This book is published with the hope of sparking intense and profound reflection on the paramount issue of Greek patriotism, which, if we rediscover it by delving into the glorious pages of our history, if we bring it back to the forefront, and if we redefine and embrace its meaning in 21st-century terms, then and only then will we find the thread that will unite us, make us stronger, and lead us out of the crisis.
