I am writing because I saw that everyone is criticizing this lock, I had it for over 10 years and I had no problems, it always worked, even though it fell several times and sometimes I started without seeing it and hit the disc brake, I don't remember when I changed the batteries but it definitely took years for me to remember, it always made a noise if I shook the handlebar and not with a slight touch because then the neighborhood would wake up whenever a cat climbed on it or someone passing by hit it, yes as you understood it was outside all these years and it had also been rained on without rusting. Yes, it is heavy and yes you have to use both hands to place it, although sometimes I managed with one hand, but if it was light, some would say it is cheap and it will break easily. I used past tense because yesterday some thief stole it from my bag in broad daylight on Asklipiou street and now I am looking to find another one and by looking at what is available and comparing prices, sizes, and brands, I will end up with the same one again.

Apart from the fact that the key is difficult to insert and remove, the lock itself is a joke. I spotted thieves from the balcony of my second-floor house through the alarm, and by the time I went downstairs, about 15 seconds later, the machine had already flown away.

Very mediocre lock, I bought it for around 70€, just like the others say who unfortunately I didn't read before buying it, very small key that goes in very difficultly, and to arm it you need the key, to disarm it you have to wait until the key goes in which is small and goes in difficultly and you bother a lot of people, even though it doesn't hit very hard

After 8 months of use, the key broke inside.
    Without any pressure.
    Tragic for a security lock.

Abus is a very good company but in this particular product it doesn't say much.... you have to pay double the money to have something reliable from the company in terms of disc brake lock. It doesn't lock easily, you have to shake the bike up and down to activate it, among other things the key broke in 2 years because it has an issue with entering the lock. It has a little iron piece in the lock and it doesn't let it go in and over time it becomes more and more difficult. I was not satisfied.

I bought this lock in June 2015 in red color. It is sturdy, I would say heavy, so it is better to hold it and place it with both hands and NOT with the key it has, in order to put it with one hand for your convenience (it is logical for the key to bend and break when you put it on and take it off while holding the lock with so much weight from the key). The main thing is that the bolt is thick and not thin, and it also fits all disc brakes. The truth is that the key does not easily go in because it has a metal clamp that closes the lock's entrance and you have to put the key in a specific way, as if pushing it. You can choose by turning the key when you lock it, sinking it to the right or left, whether it has an alarm or not, which is very important. The alarm does not go off easily, you need to shake it quite a bit and it sounds quite loud, I must say. I haven't changed the battery for 4 years, imagine that! I don't understand what else to ask for from a disc brake lock that also comes with its case and reminder, maybe only those who encountered a problem wrote a review. It is worth it for its price, if you search you will find it for 55-60 euros, then you have to go over 90-100 euros to find something better...

The siren, from the beginning, can barely be heard if you touch your ear to it. Rarely, when the siren "disconnects", it sounds loud as it should sound normally and then reconnects. I use it like any other simple disc brake lock. The plastic parts do not give you the impression of a sturdy construction. I do not recommend it. Only one star, for the overall impression.

The positives are only two, the first and most serious one is the very sturdy lock, even though it costs less than 100€, it is equivalent to locks that cost 200 and above. It has a large thick bolt, made of steel. It can be locked with or without an alarm.

The negatives are that the key is small, making it difficult to insert and unlock. The difficulty in unlocking activates the alarm. If it's not nighttime and there are no lights, you'll need a candle. It doesn't lock with a push, but you have to turn it with the key.

In conclusion, it is a very well-made construction, it withstands and considering that it costs less than a hundred, I would give it 5 stars. On the other hand, it's not easy, weigh what it's worth and act accordingly.

I wrote the above when I had bought it, I even gave it 4 stars. Yesterday, 9/6, one month later, it broke, it didn't lock at all. I left the bike UNLOCKED. "Abus" the other person says, luckily it has a warranty
