It is - by far - the cheapest thing out there. Unfortunately, while I bought 2 pieces, both had the same problem: one disk appeared in My Computer, the other did not. Obviously something, somewhere, is not making the ideal contact. Unfortunately, I didn't have another laptop to try.

I want to say that I made a mistake in my order. I want to inform everyone that it is 12.7mm, which is too thick and not suitable only for old laptops. I needed the 9.5mm because it is for Acer Aspire E1-570G

I use it on a Lenovo laptop, it fits correctly and works as it should with the HDD I use. It also takes the front cover of the computer and lights up a blue LED when in operation. What I don't know is if it supports SATA 3 drives. The computer does not recognize a SATA 3 drive, but I don't know if this is due to the caddy or if it's an issue with the drive or the computer.

Be careful, there are two types of hdd caddy, 12.7 and 9.5. This one is 12.7 and I made some modifications but it wasn't worth it in the end. It would have been better to get a 9.5 initially...

The case is great. It has everything ready and the installation is easy.

It fit perfectly on 3 family laptops, Asus, Acer, and Lenovo, which had three SSDs installed for the operating system.

The front CD tray cover (the black one that says DVD) can be removed and replaced with your laptop's original one. And honestly, you can't see anything at all. It looks factory-made. And the LED light turns on too!

From me, it's a 5/5 for its price and quality. It's very reliable.

The only thing you need to check BEFORE buying and evaluating it WRONG is the HEIGHT of your CD tray.

How can you do this?
You need to remove the CD tray from your laptop and measure it.

Usually, it is supported by only one screw.
In some laptops, this screw is directly accessible underneath the laptop.
In others, this screw is accessible after removing the bottom cover of the laptop.

It is user-friendly and reliable. I installed it in an HP Pavilion dv6 model from 2009, in place of the DVD-ROM, and connected the 320GB HDD to have a second disk in my laptop along with the SSD (there is a screwdriver included in the case).
INSTALLATION: 1) The external cover of the case unclips and easily fits into your laptop, just be careful not to break the clips because then it won't fit properly.
2) You need to unscrew a small base from your DVD-ROM with two screws at the back and place it accordingly in the HDD caddy case to be screwed onto the laptop chassis.
3) The DVD-ROM can now be used externally with a special USB to Slimline SATA cable.
