The Invasion of Civilians, focused on the refugee-migration issue and specifically its impact on Greece, is the second book of Stavros Lygeros' "duology." The first book was "Islamic Terrorism."
Due to their religious-cultural identity, Muslim migrants find it difficult to integrate. They tend to reproduce in the Western environment the way they lived in their countries of origin, which pushes them to create informal ghettos. And in Greece, the human "landfill" has fueled scattered crime and underpaid "black" labor.
The author analyzes the legal and political aspects of granting asylum and the role of "professional allies," demonstrating that cost-free anti-racist rhetoric elevates the sails of Golden Dawn. The rise of rights advocates to power and the "open borders" policy—combined with Merkel's invitation statement—opened the box of Pandora in 2015.
The result was that the EU slipped into Orbán's policy, with Austria doing the dirty work to close the Balkan route and shifting the European border from the Aegean to Idomeni. The book sheds light on the role of FRONTEX, NATO, and NGOs, dissects the EU-Turkey agreement, and traces the consequences of trapping tens of thousands of distressed people in Greece.
The refugee-migration issue is not solely a humanitarian problem. It has a second unpleasant face: it causes social side effects and public safety issues. It is this unpleasant face that emerges over time.
