The two speeches of Odysseas Elytis that he delivered in French during the Nobel Prize in Literature award at the Swedish Academy in 1979, in which the poet speaks about brightness and transparency, poetry, and art.

The edition includes the two speeches in English, an introduction by the poet and critic Dimitris Dascalopoulos, titled "The Poet Odysseas Elytis", as well as a timeline of the poet's life and a list of Elytis's works that have been translated into English.

The translation of Odysseas Elytis's speech at the Stockholm City Hall and Dimitris Dascalopoulos's essay has been done by Simon Darragh.
