Theseus, one of the favorite heroes of the Greeks, was the son of King Aegeus and Queen Aethra. When he set out to meet his father for the first time in Athens, he succeeded in clearing the way of all the bandits and wrongdoers of the time.
Later - before becoming the king of Athens himself - he freed the Athenians from a very heavy tribute. The exploits of Theseus were significant, but as king, he made many decisions that were essential for the future of his homeland.
