  • The sander changes the game with a 5mm eccentric. I have two beasts, eccentric Kress 5mm circular 900watt and Holzmann 750watt 3mm. The Makita does even the job of a scraper with blades, I mean, and the above. It changed the way I work, as if you have a belt sander but more controlled; you can sand parquet, walls, whatever comes to mind, it even works as a satinizer on metals. It has blown me away, it's the tool that opens horizons; the other orbital sanders are for small furniture, if you want large surfaces only here and maybe Rupes, that's probably why they have been produced unchanged for 30 years. The only minus is that it doesn't have speed adjustment. With the power it has, it needs it.

  • For many years, the Italian company Rupes held a monopoly on random orbital sanders with a 5 mm throw and high prices. Makita came to change that with a beautiful replica.

Compared to the Rupes SSPF (because it cannot be compared to any other), it is better. It's tanks. Tremendous quality and no cheap plastic. It does the job because of its 5-millimeter orbit. It literally sands on its own. For flat and large surfaces, it's something else. Maybe there should also be a second sander in the toolbox with a 2-millimeter orbit for a better finish.
