No evil and no flaw had a place in man. Although finite, he was perfect. Although finite, he possessed the fullness of likeness to God, a fullness necessary for the fulfillment of his purpose.
And what was his purpose? To become a temple of the infinite, eternal, and supremely perfect God. The mind of man must be the mind of God, his word must be the word of God, his spirit must be united with the Spirit of God, and the qualities of his character must be god-like.
The indwelling of God within man signifies, in other words, the union of God with man. Thus, the creature-man becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Whoever reaches this state is called – and truly becomes – a god by grace! In such a state, we have all been summoned by the Creator since the creation of our forefathers.
