A small yet unique encyclopedia of spiritual life. Selected texts, translated into Modern Greek, from the "Collection of Divine Utterances and Teachings of the God-bearing and Holy Fathers" by Monk Paul the Benefactor (+1054).

The topics are diverse and interesting: repentance, despair, death, the tolling of souls, the future judgment, paradise, hell, temptations, virtues and passions, spiritual guidance, God's providence, asceticism and self-control, the battle of the flesh, submission and patience, thoughts, prayer, divine communion, etc.

The volume is enriched a) with a glossary - interpretative comments, b) with brief lives of the saints, from whose life and works the text was compiled, c) with an index of names and topics, d) with a table of scriptural references.
