Modern lies: each of us could list several, but not those related to "what is being." Ancient truths: do we recognize them but struggle to admit them or do we completely ignore them?

With this book, Maria Maggiorou attempts an analysis of the present through the ontological prism of the "level-way of existence" of the three cultural traditions of the West: Greek, Latin, and German.

Following her book "Logos and Autonomy," she argues that the gap between Greek meanings and Western values is absolute, given that "Greek humanism is not an ideal but a way of living at the level of Self-creation. It is a Cosmology-Ontology-Psychology."

She also considers the absence of thought in one of the above traditions to be absolute, stating that it unwittingly legitimizes the power of force orchestrated by the pragmatism-utilitarianism of the other.

Through a concise history of the West "at the level of the instituting society, not the instituted," she presents this political power as a recourse to the Latin tradition, thereby substantiating both the Western state system and the current phase where, in her view, the power of force is transitioning from the state to the international level and from politics to the market.

The Greek peculiarity is explained by the choice of the third among the only three possible solutions to the problem of being, and as she notably writes: "Despite so many Greek words that passed into the Latin and German traditions when Western civilization was formed, it was impossible to create a synthesis of Greek and Western ontology simply because there is no Greek meaning for 'reality.'

As I finished reading this original study, I am filled with reflections.
