Description

Description

Clinical food recommended for the initial dietary management of cats with any type of Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD), such as crystalluria and/or urolithiasis from any cause, urethral plugs, and feline idiopathic cystitis.

Benefits

  • Dissolution of sterile struvite uroliths
  • Long-term nutritional management of cats prone to struvite, calcium oxalate, and calcium phosphate crystals and uroliths (reducing occurrence and recurrence), urethral plugs (almost exclusively related to struvite or calcium phosphate crystals), idiopathic FLUTD (especially c/dTM Multicare Feline pouch or can)
  • Reduces the concentration of struvite's structural components in urine (magnesium and phosphates) and calcium oxalate components
  • Forms soluble complexes with calcium to reduce the formation of calcium oxalate
  • Prevents the formation and aggregation of struvite crystals without allowing the formation of oxalate crystals
  • Increases urine volume, to dissolve the structural components of uroliths and to reduce the recurrence of idiopathic FLUTD
  • Neutralizes free radicals helping to combat urolithiasis

It was purchased for a cat due to urinary problems. The other cats in the house were also forced to eat it. All three of them experienced inexplicable vomiting, often lasting for several days. It was given to another friend with two younger cats that didn't have urinary issues, and they exhibited the same behavior, with inexplicable vomiting. Clearly, it will not be purchased again. It is possible that we encountered problematic cats. Another Royal Canin food was consumed without any issues and was also more palatable, judging by the disposition of my cats, especially the "sick" one. Additionally, it doesn't seem to be particularly palatable, as the cats clearly prefer the other one by a margin.

Quality-wise, I think it is excellent, albeit a bit pricey. It was recommended to me by the vet for my neutered cat who has cystitis. I'm giving it 4 stars only because it seems like he doesn't like it very much, although that is not a quality criterion. The same goes for the wet food of the same range, which I have heard from others as well.
