Issues concerning the involvement of Ottoman authority and powerful ecclesiastical, political, and economic factors in the administration and operation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate are clarified, as well as the actions of Patriarch Theodosius II to resolve critical situations, such as the revolutionary movement of the Orlovists, the prolonged ecclesiastical mismanagement of the Greek community in Venice, the Kolivadis dispute, the financial debt of the Common Fund, the operation of schools, and a multitude of administrative and pastoral matters of the ecclesiastical provinces.
