Industrial environments require TRUE RMS measuring instruments!
Non-linear loads resulting, for example, from motors with adjustable speed, frequency converters, or power supplies for office equipment and LED lamps create reactive power in the network. As a result, multimeters and clamp meters that operate with the so-called average measurement method ("RMS") will display the measured values with reduced accuracy.
In many cases, and especially in industrial environments, it is therefore absolutely necessary to use state-of-the-art "TRUE RMS" measuring instruments. The "TRUE RMS" measurement method accurately indicates the true value of an alternating current - regardless of whether the waveform of the current signal is sinusoidal or distorted.
