Kafka met Felice Bauer in 1912 at the home of his friend Max Brod. Before the dissolution of their first engagement, the Bauer family held a kind of court in Berlin, on which the creator of "The Metamorphosis" based his own "Trial," an emblematic novel that made him globally known.
