Many claim that "Letters to Felice" by Franz Kafka is the best that the author wrote in his life, as it consists of spontaneous, sincere, and highly revealing texts.

Kafka met Felice Bauer in 1912 at the home of his friend Max Brod. Their dense correspondence provided the Nobel Prize-winning author the opportunity to write a penetrating, witty essay about the author from Prague, which is now considered a classic. Kafka and Felice were engaged twice, in 1914 and 1917. Before the dissolution of their first engagement, the Bauer family held a kind of court in Berlin, on which the creator of "The Metamorphosis" based his own "Trial," an emblematic novel that made him globally known.
