The purpose of this book is to present the purely mathematical work of the Pythagorean School. A work free from philosophical and religious branches, from spiritual laws derived from "numerology" and "arithmosophy".

The content has been derived from testimonies of ancient Greek mathematical philosophers and writers such as Nicomachus, Theon, Plato, Archytas, Aristotle, Proclus, Eudoxus, Theaitetos, Euclid, Simplicius, Eudemus, Geminus, Apollodorus, Speusippus, Iamblichus, Aetius, Aristoxenus, and Plutarch, as well as from historians of mathematics such as Thomas Heath, Gino Loria, Hermann Diels, E. Stamatakis, N. Artemiades, among others.
