Anton Chekhov wrote a work titled The Demons of the Forest in 1880. Ten years later, he revised it and gave it to Stanislavski under the title Uncle Vanya.
It is a complex tragicomedy of unfulfilled love, devotion to rural life, and provincial boredom, where the beautifully crafted characters by Chekhov create their own intense inner action.
