Reading the Odyssey from the original, I noticed, with surprise I must admit, that many of the customs and expressions referenced in this unparalleled epic can still be found in our days, in our daily lives and in our speech, which reveals the continuity of the language in this place, even if its inhabitants can no longer boast of their education as they did in ancient times, when the Greeks considered anyone without Greek education to be barbaric.
And there are so many barbarians in our days and especially in this place. And this is the great irony. Thus, even today, the Odyssey is read pleasantly and with interest on a global scale.
The Odyssey should be able to be read by anyone who simply knows how to read. Even if they have only attended school for two or three years.
