Description

1. The book deals with the structures of Chinese grammar and their basic uses. It perfectly presents the complex and difficult issues of modern Chinese grammar.
2. What is worth mentioning is that within the book, not only the Chinese language is used, but there are also corresponding interpretations in Greek, which is the native language of the students, which is particularly useful. However, this book is not a simple translation from Chinese to Greek, but based on the particular characteristics of the Chinese language in relation to those of Greek, it creates a blend between them, finding common points, highlighting the differences, thus creating a clear distinction between the differences between the two languages. In this way, it can be studied in order to be practically used and the Chinese language can be assimilated into everyday use in the future.
3. The book examines the basic structures of Chinese grammar and syntax, and additionally uses a large number of sentences as examples, making it a useful manual for self-study or teaching through a teacher. As a living means of communication, language requires a large amount of explanatory sentences as well as idiomatic expressions. The book achieves this purpose with its abundance of examples and perfect use of idiomatic expressions, such as the use of proverbs and other traditional expressions, which are the most distinctive feature of this book.
4. Chinese, being one of the oldest and most difficult languages, has common points and similarities with ancient Greek. This book examines and presents these similarities to everyone. It can also play an important role in the study of cultural relations between the peoples of Eastern Asia and Europe, and going further for the research of the origin of the human race.
5. The book examines the basic uses of all Chinese dialects. For the purpose of teaching the Chinese language from teachers to Greeks, this book is a gem and also serves as a powerful reference tool for other interested parties in linguistic matters.

Disappointing experience – Serious deficiencies in content, accuracy, and quality
I feel the need to warn any interested party: purchasing this book may prove to be a waste of money. The content suffers from numerous typographical and grammatical errors, even in the translations, where serious mistakes are observed. Additionally, the author resorts to the use of Katharevousa — based on archaic standards — perhaps believing that this will lend a "high level" or demonstrate an alleged linguistic correspondence between Ancient Greek and Chinese syntax. Unfortunately, the result is confusing and completely unsuitable for educational use.
The examples given are extremely unfortunate and do not correspond to everyday uses or the modern real needs of the student (they lack naturalness and show a disconnect from everyday linguistic reality).
The structure and design of the book — both externally and in its internal content — lack care. There is neither completeness nor organization, while its general presentation fails to capture the reader's interest or encourage study. Furthermore, the grammatical explanations are confusing, causing misinformation on fundamental points. The phenomenon of existential verbs, for example, is presented in an incomplete or incorrect way, which indicates a basic confusion in linguistic concepts.
The book falls far short of what it promises in its description. On the contrary, it serves as an example to avoid for those seeking serious and thorough guidance in Chinese grammar.

By contrast, I wholeheartedly recommend the new work by Ms. Fenia Papakosma, "Chinese Grammar For All Levels," which stands out for its accuracy, completeness, and pedagogical value. You can search for it by typing “kinezikigrammatiki” or now purchase it through the Skroutz platform.
