Aeschylus is a great poet who stands at the beginning of the shaping of ancient Greek dramatic poetry. His works address various themes: social, poetic, metaphysical.
All his works are presented with a solid structure and lyrical outbursts. From his rich oeuvre, seven tragedies have been preserved: Persians, Seven Against Thebes, Suppliants, Prometheus Bound, Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers, The Eumenides - the last three (under the common title Oresteia) constitute the only surviving trilogy of dramatic works.
