Canada 1867: As the heavy winter tightens its grip around the isolated community of Dav River, a man is brutally murdered and a seventeen-year-old boy goes missing.

The footprints outside the dead man's cabin lead north, into the inhospitable tundra. Journalists, detectives, and the curious flock to the small town, some to solve the mystery and others to exploit it.

The disparate group sets out from Dav River, moving towards the fringes of an endless frozen expanse, inhabited only by wild animals and fugitives. Along with them, a woman gathers her strength to undertake the most important journey of her life.

The truth must be revealed before the snow forever covers the traces of the past.
