Description & Specifications

The "unknown war" between the leader of ERE Kon. Karamanlis and the top journalist of the conservative party Savvas Konstantopoulos, is a dramatic aspect of modern history that remained unknown to the general public. Former close friends and collaborators, the two men ended up facing each other in the post-dictatorship era. What happened? What were the political reasons that turned the founder of New Democracy and the publisher and columnist of "Eleftheros Kosmos" into adversaries? Through Savvas Konstantopoulos' confidential archive, the backstage of a turbulent era now comes to light, starting from the phase of ERE's downfall in 1963, passing through the collapse of democracy, followed by the "April period," and ending with the Metapolitefsi. The political landscape was constantly changing, with shocking events that marked the course of this country. Many of these events were either later distorted or not understood, and more than what took place behind the scenes remained completely unknown. The book does not aim to praise or accuse anyone. We present documents that record history. And history cannot be adjusted to anyone's desires. The judgments and conclusions belong to the readers. However, the dramatic end of this "duel" between Karamanlis and Konstantopoulos, with the latter's death in exile, raises concerns about where the escalation of passions and political expediencies can lead.
