After returning from America, Lorca writes "Blood Wedding," which premiered in 1933 at a theater in Madrid. Its theme is the bloodthirsty "drama of honor" from the classical Spanish theater.

The Spanish countryside becomes a fearsome arena of love and death, men die before they wither, and women remain as sorrowful, wounded representatives of the barren Catholicism and harsh conservatism that characterized pre-war Spain.

Interspersed are the poetic figures of the Moon in the form of a young woodcutter and the Beggar Woman - a metaphysical embodiment of Malice. The work is part of the trilogy "Blood Wedding," "Yerma," and "The House of Bernarda Alba," and it represents the culmination of the poetic realism that Lorca serves so faithfully.
