Federico García Lorca (1898-1936) is the poet and playwright whose theatrical vision created a second golden age of Spanish theater.
"The Amazing Puppet" (a work written in 1930) is a popular comedy that is closely related to Commedia dell'Arte and puppetry. The young Puppet, initially bad-tempered at the start of her marriage, forces her much older Puppet Husband to leave their home, but later realizes how difficult it is for a poor girl to survive on her own and longs for the little time she spent with her humble husband.
The play is enriched with songs of rare lyricism and profound sensitivity.
