WHAT DO ANIMALS MATTER TO US? If we are not selfish, let’s remember that with animals:
- We get our food
- We get transported
- We find companionship
- We are healed (thanks to laboratory animals)
- Not to mention that in the past, we bribed our gods with animals (“sacrifices”)…
So, at least out of gratitude, we would like to learn about how these poor creatures “spend their days.” Of course, some of us will tell you more: “In the dark and cold universe, these animals are our companions in the scandalous phenomenon of life. That is why both the Ancient Greeks and the Old Testament acknowledge a soul in animals. Brothers, in other words,” it tells you.
But even we others who do not fancy such emotions hope that by studying the social phenomena of animals, we might better understand our own societies. One way or another, it’s probably difficult to remain indifferent…
