Their texts, which are a valuable source for the history of the Greek region during this period, have remained unexploited until today.

In this book, the "Lives" are reissued based on the unique manuscript located in the State Historical Museum of Moscow, and are accompanied by a translation and notes. The introduction discusses the issue of sources and the way the two authors approached the personality of Saint Meletius while attempting to place the texts in the historical context of the Comnenian era.
