An important chapter of the book is dedicated to his close friend Niko Georgiadis and his collaborators such as Kenneth MacMillan, Rudolf Nureyev, Lynn Seymour, and Barry Kay. The book vividly sketches personalities from the Greek artistic scene, including many friends the author made in Greece: Melina Mercouri, Jules Dassin, Yiannis Metsis, Dionysis and Vassilis Fotopoulos, Mihalis Kakogiannis, Rozita Souk, Doli Goulandri, and several others.

With descriptions from various parts of Greece that he visited, especially the islands, Spencer expresses his deep love for the country and its inhabitants, often comparing the Greek way of life and the traditions of the place with the customs and practices of his hometown.

Finally, the reprints of various articles and his comments on Greek artists constitute a valuable testimony of this period (1958-1998).
